International Activities

Beyond our extensive work in Israel, we work to share the knowledge and experience we have gained on the international stage as well, recognizing that Israel is the world leader in this field..

Israeli advocacy

Through our international work, we serve as ambassadors of the State of Israel and of the advanced educational work that has grown here. We represent a unique model that brings together education, medicine, and legislation — grounded in the fact that Israel is one of the very few countries in the world where a hospitalized child's right to education is enshrined in law. This experience, accumulated over years at the heart of the Israeli system, forms a body of professional knowledge that draws great interest from international bodies and positions the organization as a leading voice representing Israel as a global pioneer in the field.

Beyond establishing physical centers, we lead an "educational-social

diplomacy" through active membership in professional organizations and ongoing participation in the global professional conversation. We take a central part in international conferences — foremost among them the HOPE conference, Europe's main gathering on the education of hospitalized children — where we present the pedagogical knowledge and tools we have developed in Israel. These collaborations allow us to build a foundation for mutual learning with professionals around the world, with the aim of advancing the understanding that education is a central element in every child's resilience and recovery.

A meaningful expression of the international recognition of the Israeli model is the presentation of the "Education Without Borders" exhibition at prestigious international institutions, including the UN and UNESCO. Through this exhibition and extensive advocacy, we introduce decision-makers and experts from around the world to Israel's educational work, which combines technological innovation with deep human sensitivity. This work strengthens Israel's standing as a global center of knowledge and sends the world a message of hope and resilience through the power of education, even in the most challenging moments.

SASA Setton in Ukraine

The educational center in Odesa was SASA Setton's first international project, opening in 2023 at the Odesa Regional Children's Hospital in Ukraine, against the backdrop of the Russia–Ukraine war and out of a desire to give hospitalized children educational continuity and emotional support even in a time of emergency. The center operates within the regional children's hospital and features an innovative learning space equipped with computers, tablets, games, and educational content translated specially into Ukrainian. Alongside building the space, SASA Setton trained the hospital's psychologist and local staff in the Israeli model of hospital education, and continues to support them professionally through ongoing guidance. The project became the organization's first proof of concept on the international stage, demonstrating that education, creativity, and play can strengthen children's emotional resilience even in wartime.

SASA Setton in Albania

The educational center in Tirana opened in 2025 at the Mother Teresa University Hospital Center (QSUT). The project includes two learning centers for hospitalized children and incorporates every component of the SASA Setton model: innovative learning spaces, advanced technological equipment, educational and creative content, and comprehensive professional training for the local educational team. After the centers were established, responsibility for day-to-day operation passed to the Albanian team, while SASA Setton continues to support the project through a two-month training program, monthly Zoom sessions, and professional collaboration with the hospital schools in Israel — among them Meir, HaEmek, and ALYN. The project marks the organization's first international expansion beyond the war zone in Ukraine and demonstrates how the Israeli model can be applied in other countries.
