Developing Our Educational Teams
We see the educational teams in the hospitals as the leading experts in their field, carrying the professional, pedagogical, and emotional responsibility for the education of hospitalized children. These teams work every day in a sensitive and dynamic setting that demands unique skills to adapt learning to the medical reality and to the child's changing needs. At SASA Setton, we work alongside the teams and on their behalf, out of a commitment to broadening and strengthening educational work in the hospitals and to ensuring every child a high-quality response that serves as a bridge to recovery.
Developing a professional staff
We invest considerable resources in developing our professional staff, out of an understanding that the educational field in hospitals demands constant growth and learning. We lead professional training courses and development programs that expose the teams to innovative pedagogical models and connect theoretical knowledge with practical field experience. These trainings are tailored to the unique working reality of hospitals and enable educators to broaden their professional toolkit and develop expertise in the field of education during hospitalization.
In addition, we work to create a learning professional community that connects educational teams from across the country through dialogue and peer-learning sessions. The organization initiates and supports collaborations between hospitals and professional conferences — foremost among them the international HOPE conference, which brings together professionals in education, medicine, and civil society around education during hospitalization and crisis. These forums enable knowledge sharing, mutual learning, and a stronger sense of professional belonging for the teams working in the field.
Supporting the educational team
As part of the professional support we provide, we launched the "A Boost of Encouragement" program, which empowers the educational teams and enables them to develop and lead groundbreaking pedagogical initiatives. The program supports initiatives born from the field and provides professional guidance and resources that deepen the connection between quality education, emotional well-being, and recovery. In this way, we help turn educational ideas into meaningful initiatives with a long-term impact on the children and on the system as a whole.
We recognize that educational work in hospitals is demanding and can lead to burnout, and we therefore place the highest importance on supporting the emotional and professional resilience of the teams. The organization initiates activities and content dedicated to the well-being of educators, and creates for them spaces that allow for pause, breath, and renewal within a demanding work environment. Our support is designed to ensure that the teams feel supported and valued, out of an understanding that their resilience is the key to providing beneficial and empowering education to hospitalized children.
